License testing

NEARC sponsors amateur radio exam sessions for new licenses and upgrades. We test on request, and with some notice we can usually work around your schedule.

We set the location when the session is scheduled. You can also ask any club officer.

What to bring

  1. Photo ID
  2. Your current amateur license (original or a copy), if you have one
  3. Any CSCEs you hold
  4. The $15 exam fee
  5. Your FCC FRN. You need it before you test, and Social Security numbers are no longer accepted. Get an FRN →

After you pass a new license or an upgrade, the FCC charges its own $35 application fee. You pay it directly to the FCC.

We'd like to add more examiners. If you hold a General or higher license, being a Volunteer Examiner is a good way to give back to the hobby.
